What's the Point?

What is the point?

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us…”
2 Corinthians 5:20

Those words are compelling.  Not only do they strike me as being honorable but also worthy – worthy of recognition.  Of all that is within us, his grace defines that we owe him nothing, but by being a Christian, more specifically in relationship with Christ, we learn the great multitude of discipleship.  By the death of Christ, the penalty to our sins was paid; yet people still ask what the point of it all really is.  The point?  The point is discovered within 2 Corinthians 5:20.  We are ambassadors of Christ so that we get the joy of making him known within a world filled of confusion.  We get the privilege to be the message of clarity that warm tears yearn for and lonely minds dream of.  We are the image of him that can be seen, placing footsteps on the earth created in his image – footsteps that are willing to sacrifice what they are for what they can become.  That’s the point…to become something through Christ, and if it is anything we hope for, we should hope for becoming.
